CILT Singapore

The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) is the professional body for those engaged in logistics, transport and physical distribution - covering all sectors of the industry; namely, land, sea, air and logistics, for both passengers and freight transportation. It was formed in United Kingdom in 1919 as the Institute of Transport and granted a Royal Charter in 1926. It was renamed as the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) in 2000. The Singapore Group was formed in 1971. This Group was converted into a Section in 1986 and to National Council in 1991.

Objectives:

  • To promote, encourage and co-ordinate the study and advancement of the science and art of logistics and transport through the organisation and conduct of appropriate activities and services.
  • To do research into the best means of developing and improving logistics, transport and physical distribution by every practical means in the best interest of the community.
  • To educate men and women engaged in logistics, transport or physical distribution, or in any of the many activities connected with the movement of people or goods, so that they may acquire the knowledge they need to obtain the Institute's qualifications.




Aim of the European Intermodal Association is to stimulate co-modality between the different modes as the logistic chain still has a lot of shortcomings in infrastructural, technical, organisational and legal respect. EIA works in close cooperation with EU institutions and is recognized as non-governmental organization both by United Nations (UN) and European Conference of Ministers of Transport (ECMT). EIA has about ninety members in twenty different states. It facilitates Round Tables between authorities and market players addressing specific bottlenecks, promotes intermodal best-practices and participates in EU funded projects to develop instruments to boost intermodality. RTSA

Hong Kong Logistics Association was established in 1997 with the objective to provide a forum for professionals in the logistics industry to develop their understanding and skills in the practical implementation of operational and strategic aspects of logistics in Hong Kong. There are about 1,000 members coming from all sphere of logistics industry, which comprises of logistics service providers as well as logistics service users. (www.hkla.org.hk)




The Purchasing and Supply Association (Singapore) or PASAS is a not-for-profit professional organisation that was established in 2003 for the development of the purchasing and supply profession. PASAS offers educational opportunities and relevant information through a variety of programmes, services and activities. It is accredited by the American Purchasing Society, the American Certification Institute, and the International Purchasing and Supply Chain Management Institute.

PASAS ACADEMY is a department under clueless2EXPERTS Training & Education Systems Pte Ltd (www.clueless2experts.com) formed in joint venture with PASAS. PASAS Academy offers Seminars, Certification Programmes and Academic Programmes (Diploma and Graduate Diploma Programmes).

The Singapore Institute of Materials Management (SIMM) was founded in 1980 by a group of professional executives in the logistics and supply chain industry.

It is a professional institute and an independent non-profit and self-supporting institution registered with the Singapore Registry of Societies. Its advisory panel comprises executives from Federal Express, DHL, Motorola, Seagate, Omron, Hitachi, and Infineon

SIMM professional courses include certificate, diploma, advanced diploma, bachelor and master degree level courses. SIMM educational partners include: Curtin University of Technology (Australia), American Production and Inventory Control Society (APICS, USA), Institute of Supply Management (ISM).

TradeXchange® also facilitates seamless Business-to-Business (B2B) trade with the provision of Value-Added Services, which enrich the TradeXchange® platform by complementing the Business-to-Government (B2G) transactions.

TradeXchange® is the first IT project in Singapore to be implemented as a Public Private Partnership (PPP). CrimsonLogic has been appointed by the Singapore Government as an independent contractor to develop, operate and maintain as well as drive the adoption of this project.
